A German-based lab services company is opening its first East Coast location in Spotsylvania County this August.
Tentamus North America, Inc., which has other U.S. locations in Oregon, Utah and Illinois, has leased 2,000 square feet at 10524 Spotsylvania Ave., Suite 102 and is building a lab there.
Lauren Fleming, vice president of Tentamus, said the lab could create five to 10 local jobs and will service Virginia and its bordering states.
She said the location along Interstate 95 was attractive and she met with local officials before deciding on Spotsylvania.
The company, founded in 2011, offers lab services for food, feed, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries through its network of laboratories in the U.S., Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Austria, Israel and China.
Clay Mihoulides of Chrismarr Realty represented the tenant and Marc G. Smith of Jarrell Properties, Inc. represented the landlord in the lease transaction.
